In these uncertain times it is understandable that many families and businesses will be considering how they can reduce their spending. You may be tempted to save money by cancelling your cover, but it is important that you understand how this may impact you, your family or your employees now and in the future.
Any outstanding claims will no longer be covered. You will lose the ability to choose who treats you and when - a valuable benefit in helping you, your family or your employees get back on their feet quickly.
If you have made a claim in the contract period then you may be ineligible for any pro-rata refund of your premium.
If you cancel your cover and re-apply in the future, you may not get the same level of cover as you have now or may face higher premiums. When you renew your health insurance each year, your cover continues on the same terms. A gap in cover could mean that you face exclusions for conditions that you were previously covered for. The price of insurance also goes up with age so it could cost you more.
If you are thinking of cancelling your health cover to save money, please get in contact with us to discuss whether there are other options that can help.
